Why do some manufacturers of pads and covers put holes in the flannel?

The flannel that Cleaner’s Supply™ sells is needle punched. The needle punched flannel is very efficient when using with a vacuum unit, as it helps to keeps shirts in place and allows for optimum use of the vacuuming function. Most competitors’ flannel is a woven flannel. Many manufactures that use this woven flannel will put holes in it to compensate for the inefficiency of the flannel when used in conjunction with vacuum units.
