Purchased Denison fasteners, you may check our record for the type. I know they are white ad I believe they are the sturdier type, which should not melt. Problem we have is they come off the piece tags that we use! We fold the piece tags over the garment and the needle goes through the tag … garment and then …tag. I don’t know what we should do? Any suggestion or is there any particular way that the need to be fastened to the garment that would prevent that fasteners from coming out. The fasteners are not on the garment after the garments come out of the machine. So that tells me they are breaking off in the machine either due to heat, agitation, or perc melting them off. What should we do to address this?

A:
The white fasteners we carry are nylon and have an additive in them which makes them resistant to heat, agitation, and chemicals (even perc). Sometimes the person using the tagging gun is moving too fast and pulls the needle out prior to the end of the fastener end clearing the needle end. When that happens the fasteners are not secured in the garment and the fastener and tag will fall out of the clothing.

A:
The supplies that we carry are for the Mark III Fine Fabric Gun, and will only work for that particular gun. Likewise, is supplies were purchased for a different model Dennison gun, they would not work with the Mark III Fine Fabric Gun.

What’s the difference between the clear and the white Dennison fasteners?

A:
The white fasteners are made of nylon and have a high heat resistance. They will not melt when used in hot head applications. The clear fasteners are constructed of polypropylene; they are not as strong but tend to break easily in order to take off tags. The clear fasteners are not heat resistant and do have a tendency of melting when used in conjunction with hot head presses.

Do I need a separate computer for tagging or I can do it on the same one that I have for my POS usage? I am planning to use an Epson TMU200 receipt printer with my POS Software, is this printer suitable to print Tags from Cleaner’s Supply? Will the ink used by this printer withstand Dry/Wet Cleaning? What systems are usually employed by today/s cleaners? Is the tagging gun recommended for use with computer tag printing method?

A:
If you are using the Epson TMU200 printer, you can use the Wet-Strength Tag rolls to create your tags. In order to ensure your ink will not come out of the tags, it’s important to use the indelible ink ribbons we carry for this printer. There are a few dry cleaning software systems that are popular in the industry today, you may want to contact them to make sure their software is compatible to the hardware you already have in house. You can use staplers, Dennison fasteners or safety pins to secure the tags to the garments.

A:
As it turns out, these can be dehydrated. They recommend putting a damp paper towel in the box of fasteners, letting it stand overnight. They should be ready to use the next morning.

Why would the Dennison fasteners get brittle and break too easily?

A:
These items do have a shelf life. The nylon and polypropylene fasteners will absorb or lose moisture when in contact with heat and humidity. If left in areas where there is a lot of changes in temperature and humidity, they will start to loose their integrity. The clear polypropylene (DF2) fasteners are also more sensitive to heat, that is why we recommend the DF1 or DF15 (nylon) fasteners when using hot head pressing applications.

To load the fasteners, simply, insert the end with the round connecting bar on the fastener clip into the round slot at the top of the gun. Push the clip down as far as it goes and press the trigger to start tagging.
