A:
If the wires are crossed, this may result in a burned out thumb switch. One way to find out if the thumb switch is burned out is by the “click”. If the switch doesn’t make a click when pressed, it means the switch is burned out and needs to be replaced.

A:
The all steam irons will give 80 psi of steam and is very good at touching up shirts. Steam electric irons also have a heating element and thermostat so you will get a powerful steam at an even higher temperature.

Why would steam come out full force with a Cissell ACA 1000 iron...the thumb switch will not control the flow of steam. I changed the thumb switch twice and it made no difference.

A:
It sounds like the solenoid in the lowboy may need to be replaced. We don’t carry the solenoid valve any longer. If this part is not working, we do carry a steam regulator which you could replace the entire lowboy unit with.

How can you eliminate steam/ jet marks caused by irons?

A:
An iron shoe diffuser can be used in conjunction with the iron shoe to diffuse the steam better. Or the operator may want to try turning the nut at the base of thumb lever to the right- so that less steam is allowed to come out of the iron.

On the steam electric irons, will the fuse cut off the power if the iron gets too hot?

A:
This iron comes with a thermofuse, which will turn off the iron if the temperature gets too high. The only thing that would prevent the iron from shutting off would be if there were a short between the black power wire and the heating element.

Why would a steam electric iron supply no steam- even if the iron were getting hot?

A:
There could be 2 reasons why this would happen: Open the lowboy and check the voltage to the coil when the button is pushed in. 1) The thumb switch could be defective on the iron, or 2) the solenoid may be mis-wired. There may be 2 neutral wires connected.

What iron can be used without a boiler?

A:
Steam electric gravity fed irons, mini boiler irons and home irons are self-contained units, and because they have their own electric cord and water source, they will not need a boiler to provide it with steam.

Will the steam electric irons you carry hook into a European style lowboy?
Anonymous

Please Note: Your answer will be displayed upon approval.
A:
The irons that we carry are 120 volts, most European irons are 240 volts. The 4 cord wire that is attached to the iron has 1 wire that acts as a grounding wire and 3 others that go to the power source. Our iron would not work with the 240-volt set-up.

The thermostat should be regulating the temperature of the iron, if the iron is getting hotter than specified, it could be because of the thermostat.

Why does the steam electric iron leak water with the steam when the thumb switch is depressed?
Anonymous
Posting As
Please Note: Your answer will be displayed upon approval.
A:
There could be a couple of reasons why this might occur. With the steam and electricity connected to the iron, remove the hose from iron. At this point, nothing should be leaking, because the thumb switch is not being pressed: 1. If water is leaking from the hose without the thumb switch being depressed, then the lowboy is not seating properly. Replace parts SV-50, SV-51, and SV-11 on the Lowboy. 2. If no steam or water is leaking from the hose, depress the steam button on iron to check the steam quality coming from the hose. a. If only steam is emitted from the hose, but when the hose is connected to the iron water and steam are emitted, then the iron is not maintaining the proper temperature. Replace the thermostat and thermal fuse of the iron (IRN11). b. If steam and water are emitted from the hose, replace the steam trap closest to the Lowboy.
