A:
If the iron is on but not being used for a short period of time it is suggested that you point the iron away from the garment and press the thumb switch to release any build up of condensate before you begin using it again. Also, there is a steam flow control knob on the top of the boiler that can be adjusted to better regulate the amount of steam emitting from your iron.

There is steam inside the gauges on my mini-boiler and can see steam coming out from around the boiler. What is the problem?

A:
The sight glass is located inside the stainless steel outer skin on the right side of the boiler. If the glass is defective it will leak water vapor into the gauge. When this occurs the sight glass needs to be replaced. We do carry the glass.

A:
Use a solution of 1 part vinegar and 3 parts water. Pour into tank and let sit for 4 to 8 hours. Flush well with water several times if necessary to insure vinegar mixture and any particles are removed from tank before using. Our JIF3 Liquid Cleaner for steamers can also be used but use as directed.

Try tightening the gauge. If you remove the 3 screws surrounding the gauge, tighten the gauge by turning clockwise until tight, then replacing the screws.

I own a Hi-Steam MVP35B unit for my cleaners. The pressure gauge is stuck at about 45psi, it has water in the tank, but not producing any steam. I'd really rather not replace the unit, but if you carry parts for a recommended repair, that's the preferred route for me. Appreciate the help.

A:
Make sure the unit has enough water in it first. If the pressure gauge is stuck, you may want to replace the gauge. If the boiler is not getting hot, then the heating element for the tank may need to be replaced.

Can you recommend an iron for pressing shirts without all the commercial hookups?

A:
Either our gravity fed irons, or a mini boiler iron would work. These are self contained, and can be plugged into a standard outlet. The mini boiler irons to provide a more powerful steam than the gravity fed irons do.

A:
If the iron has been sitting for a while and not used we recommend the user press the thumb switch to blow a little steam out before they put it on the garment. You can also adjust the steam flow with the solenoid valve.

A:
An iron shoe diffuser can be used in conjunction with the iron shoe to diffuse the steam better. Or the operator may want to try turning the nut at the base of thumb lever to the right- so that less steam is allowed to come out of the iron.
