An iron shoe diffuser can be used in conjunction with the iron shoe to diffuse the steam better. Or the operator may want to try turning the nut at the base of thumb lever to the right- so that less steam is allowed to come out of the iron.

The thermostat should be regulating the temperature of the iron, if the iron is getting hotter than specified, it could be because of the thermostat
