INCREASE YOUR PRESSERS OUTPUT WITH SUPERFAST PADS. They Steam up and dry fast!

Our SUPERFAST press pads are constructed with porous materials that allow steam to flow better and vacuum faster which increases your pressers production rate per hour. Our pads steam up in 6 seconds where other brands take 12 seconds. The thick, resilient foam adds cushion and insulation while absorbing impressions from pockets, buttons and zippers. The heavy flannel layer prevents the pad from drying up and cracking while the heavy mesh bottom allows quick steam flow. The self-locking closure provides a snug, secure fit. This Double Legger Hot Head Press Pad will fit on Ajax/American/Ajax By Sankosha models 2442 and PC260, Forenta/Forse models 4224-VL and 4224-VLE, Hoffman/New Yorker model ALL-7 and Unipress models C42A and DLZ.

What do we recommend for cleaning a hot head pad?

A:
The manufacturer does not recommend cleaning the hot head pad. It would be difficult to remove all traces of a cleaning product from the pad which would result in damaging the garment and reduce the efficiency of the press. It is more cost effective to replace the pad.

I have a hot head press. Do I need a cover for the top plate? Would it help with the heat in the building if there was one available to be put on the top plate?

A:
Hot Heads are intended for laundered items. When they are pressed, they tend to be damp, thus the head is bare metal and steam is not needed. Most people do not put covers on the heads of these units. There are insulated head covers for the top of the machine which would help to protect your presser and which would help with controlling the temperature at your location.

Why would a cover and pad on a hot head unit start to fall apart in a matter of days?
Anonymous

Please Note: Your answer will be displayed upon approval.
A:
If the hot head unit is an electrical unit, the unit is most likely reaching temperatures exceeding what the nylon covers can stand. For electrical hot heads we recommend Hi-Temp covers, as this material will withstand the higher temperatures.

A:
A hot head unit looks like a legger or a utility except there is no steam coming from the top. It presses using heat from a smooth metal plate. Typically it has a steel mesh at bottom, a 50oz flannel, and a cover.

The flannel is not measured by inch of thickness. The 50 oz refers to the amount of material per square yard; weight is 50 oz per sq. yard.

Why would flannel padding for laundry units vary in thickness if it is always supposed to be a 50oz flannel?
Anonymous

Please Note: Your answer will be displayed upon approval.
A:
Sometimes the flannel will run fluffy and appear thicker, and at other times it will be thinner and firm. The mill that makes it determines the way the flannel appears. The fluffier flannel will compress quicker than the thinner flannel, but the are both considered a 50oz.

What would be a reason for more frequent changes of pads and covers?
Anonymous

A:
If the padding and covers don’t seem to be lasting as long as they used to, there is a good possibility that the steel pads need to be changed. Steel padding is often ignored. However, constant exposure to heat, moisture, and chemical will cause the pad to break down and decrease the resiliency of the steel. Dry Cleaners often compensate for the lack of buoyancy by putting on a thicker flannel or by changing the pads and covers more often.

Why would the nylon covers on a laundry press fall apart prematurely?

A:
If the nylon covers start to burn in certain spots and aren’t lasting as long as they should, check the following: 1. Make sure the heads are clean, if there is chemicals/starches building up- the heat may cause a chemical reaction which will break down the cover much faster. Make sure the steel base pads are still functional, if the steel is too compressed in certain areas, the covers will start to fall apart faster.

Why would the hot head covers start to fall apart after only a couple of days use?
Anonymous

Please Note: Your answer will be displayed upon approval.
A:
This would only happen on an electric press where the temperature is creeping over 450 degrees. For an electric hot head press, a High Temp cover is recommended, and this can be special ordered from Cleaner’s Supply®.
