A:
It is important to regularly clean the heads of your shirt machine because starch will build up and can eat through the covers very fast.

What would cause an airbag to turn almost black and develop holes in the airbag itself instead of the seams?

A:
The browning or burning of the air bags is something that occurs when the heads of the machine haven’t been cleaned in awhile. Not only do the heads stain the airbags, but also the chemicals and debris in the airbags tend to get the heads hotter than normal and will break down the airbags.

Why would I start to notice the seams of the air bag coming through on the shirts?

A:
Check the last time you changed your steel base pad. If the steel base pad is shot, the padding will start to wear down quickly and you may start to notice lines in as little as a week.

Do you have any special instructions for installing new Shirt Unit Covers?

A:
The manufacturer recommends that the machines be run for a few pressing cycles with out any shirts on them. This removes wrinkles on the covers and flannels and allows a better fit on the buck. Also note that moisture and chemicals are the main cause for premature deterioration. And if the buck sits cold the deterioration process quickens. Run the bucks periodically to remove the moisture and chemicals that will harm the fibers in the covers. Be sure to inspect covers and bags for creases. When pressing shirts, there is resistance encountered from the shirts which may start to set a permanent crease. The creases- if not pressed will cause the material to weaken and a rip in the cover may form.

Why would the vacuum on a shirt unit perform poorly?

A:
If the vacuum of the shirt unit isn’t performing well, check the following: 1. Make sure the right size flannel in being used. The vacuum units should use no more than the 30-oz. flannel. Also make sure that the flannel is still functional and not compressed and hard. 2. Every time the flannel and covers are changed, be sure to vacuum the steel mesh. The steel mesh is acting as a lint catcher and may compromise the vacuuming function on the unit. When changing the steel mesh, clean or vacuum out the vacuum holes in the unit, keeping the passage free of lint and debris will increase the vacuuming function.

Why would the side air bags on a Hoffman Body Air Cover #HSBCV/ HDSCV not expand out fully?
Anonymous
Posting As
Please Note: Your answer will be displayed upon approval.
A:
The side air bags on this unit inflate first with compressed air. If the air bags are not expanding properly, it may be because the blowers are not performing properly, or the heads of the machine are not allowing the blower to turn on fast enough. This has nothing to do with the side air bags, as the bags would work even if there were a hole in them that were the size of a penny. A mechanic should be called to inspect the machine.
