When we checked with the manufacturer, they verified that you can indeed use this on silk the day before or the day of the dry clean cycle.

Can this be added to the dry clean process? And if so, should it be added before dry cleaning or after?

A:
The manufacturer has found that the aerosol Liberate (SPOT1032) has the best performance in dry cleaning when used after cleaning and after pressing. Some odors left in the fabric that were sprayed before pressing get reactivated when the heat/steam hit the garment. This is because the garment was quickly sprayed then steamed and there wasn’t a very long dwell time. If the objective is to get the odor out rather than having to redo after cleaning/pressing then definitely spray after press is the way to go. The garment can then be bagged and sent. There are customers that do use the Liberate before cleaning and pressing with very good success on the dry clean side. They are spraying the fabric and letting the garment sit ahead of time. Some have said the spray before cleaning/pressing is faster but the spray after pressing does a better job. The dry clean machine temp, chemicals, etc. are most likely removing some of the Liberate.

Can this be added to the washing machine?

A:
Yes Liberate can be added directly into the washing machine when purchased in the gallon size (SPOT1035) and larger. It is usually added into the last rinse, 1 oz or less per 10 lb capacity. It will perform better when the last rinse has been extended in time to allow the Liberate to dwell longer on the fabric. Different soil types require different amounts of Liberate. Fire Restoration garments for example will require more product use than a household comforter getting regular use. When using the aerosol spray (SPOT1032), you would spray it on after the garment has been cleaned and pressed.
