The Gingher thread snips are ideal for cutting and snipping lighter fabrics and threads. These snips are designed to work with the index finger underneath the snips while the thumb is on top. The middle finger goes through the loop to stabilize the nippers while the thumb and index finger push the blades together for cutting. The double-plated chrome finish over nickel is durable. Measures 4-1/2".

What is the exact length of these from tip to hinge? I want some long lasting snips for keeping in my knitting bag, which can be sharpened, have spring action, and will pass TSA rules. The TSA site says scissors "must be less than 4 inches from the pivot point."

These should be fine for this rule. From tip to hinge is exactly 4". Blade size is 1-3/4".
