#2 Invisible Nylon Zippers are ideal for use on garments such as slacks, blouses, skirts and dresses. This invisible zipper, sometimes referred to as a concealed zipper, features size 2 (3mm) teeth, a 3/4" top/bottom extension, and an automatic lock slider. Lightweight, flexible nylon teeth and polyester tape. Teeth are hidden when zipped. Tooth color matches the zipper. Available in a variety of colors and lengths. Please note: actual colors may vary from picture due to computer setting variances.

How do I make a zipper shorter?

First you must determine whether you are shortening a separating or a non-separating zipper. To shorten a separating zipper, work the slider to the bottom of the zipper. Using needle nose pliers, remove the 2 top stops. Using end nippers, shorten the zipper to the desired size by making a small cut between the teeth or across the coils on both sides of the zipper. Remove the excess zipper tape with scissors. Apply two new top stops and sew zipper into the article of clothing. To shorten a non-separating zipper, work the slider to the top of the zipper. Using needle nose pliers, remove the 1 bottom stop. Using end nippers, shorten the zipper to the desired size by making a small cut between the teeth or across the coils on both sides of the zipper. Remove the excess zipper tape with scissors. Apply the new bottom stop and sew zipper into the article of clothing.

The zippers may have a number size associated with them. The #2, #3, #5, #8 etc. are the size in millimeters of the teeth width. Once you determine what size teeth you need, you then decide on what length you need, in your case 21".

Do the YKK zippers have a standard size coil that will take a standard invisible zipper foot? Recently purchased an invisible zip that required mfg's own foot to accommodate smaller coil. Foot didn't fit shank of my Viking machine and coil was too small for Viking foot. Want to check before buying your zips. Thx.

We carry 3 sizes of YKK invisible zippers. They are available in a #2, #3 and #5. You would need to be sure that the zipper foot you are using was made for the size coil you are installing.
