Our iron shoe goes through a special bonding process which eliminates bubbling. Thanks to our unique aluminum inner liner and fully open holes, this iron shoe evenly distributes steam across the entire ironing surface with minimal pressure. All of our iron shoes include either felt or hi-temp silicone lining (depending on which gives an optimal fit) ensuring a snug fit to prevent the shoe from slipping. Why would an iron shoe be used?

A presser may chose to use an iron shoe for a few reasons. Some people feel they help to protect the garment from the heat of the iron (prevents scorching). It diffuses the steam. The iron shoe helps to reduce shine (no need to use a press cloth). They also cover the base of the iron, so there is less time wasted in cleaning the base of the iron.

Why would your iron shoe’s non-stick base start to bubble?

This shouldn’t happen, as the non-stick coating is baked on to the base of the shoe and has a high temperature resistance. If this were to occur, it would happen to a shoe that is on an electric iron with a bad thermostat. On steam electric irons, if the thermostat is allowing the temperature to rise over 450 degrees, the coating may start to bubble off.

Why are the springs on the Teflon Iron Shoe (TF5) longer that the springs on the other iron shoes?

The length of the spring on this shoe is 10” compared to the 4” length on our other iron shoes. The reason this spring is long is because it is meant to slide behind the iron. This way it doesn’t rest on the heat shield of the Naomoto Gravity Fed Iron (IRN5) and damage it.

This product is a heat tolerant and chemical resistant substance. It can be found in either fiber or polymeric resin form. The polymeric resin is best known for providing a non-stick surface.

Not all of them, only the following: TF24,3T,4P,4D,5,520,6,67,and 85. The rest still have the grey Nomex felt.

How would you know which iron shoe a Cissell All- Steam iron would use?

If you’re not sure what the model number is on the Cissell iron, check the date code underneath the handle. The irons that were manufactured before 1993 would use a TF69. The irons manufactured from 1993 till now would use the TF85.

Why do the Premium Teflon Iron Shoes look more translucent than the Regular Iron Shoes?

From the manufacturer, the reason for the translucent difference between the Premium and the Regular Shoe is the substance which they use for the baking process. This should not affect how the Premium Shoe behaves.
