A:
It is important to regularly clean the heads of your shirt machine because starch will build up and can eat through the covers very fast.

What would cause an airbag to turn almost black and develop holes in the airbag itself instead of the seams?

A:
The browning or burning of the air bags is something that occurs when the heads of the machine haven’t been cleaned in awhile. Not only do the heads stain the airbags, but also the chemicals and debris in the airbags tend to get the heads hotter than normal and will break down the airbags.

Why would the vacuum on a shirt unit perform poorly?

A:
If the vacuum of the shirt unit isn’t performing well, check the following: 1. Make sure the right size flannel in being used. The vacuum units should use no more than the 30-oz. flannel. Also make sure that the flannel is still functional and not compressed and hard. 2. Every time the flannel and covers are changed, be sure to vacuum the steel mesh. The steel mesh is acting as a lint catcher and may compromise the vacuuming function on the unit. When changing the steel mesh, clean or vacuum out the vacuum holes in the unit, keeping the passage free of lint and debris will increase the vacuuming function.

How do I ensure the longevity of the Unipress Air Bags?

A:
Unipress recommends that when changing the air bag, that the airbag pressure be reduced to 0 psi before running the machine. Then adjust the pressure up as necessary (we recommend for new air bags that the psi be at 1.5). If the pressure is not reduced on a new bag the bag may over inflate and tear the seams, thus not allowing the air bags to hold the air. For the optimal press, the bag should be changed when it can no longer hold a minimum if 2 psi. The cover and padding should be changed when it shows signs of wear or when the air bag is changed.
