We offer a few great books on the matter. We also recommend you become a member of a trade organization such as The Drycleaning and Laundry Institute, the National Cleaners Association, Midwest Drycleaning and Laundry Association.

I am wondering if there's any rule of thumb figure for a minimum population per dry cleaner store. I am thinking about buying a cleaner in a small town with population about 50K. There are 8 stores right now, and they seem to do fairly well. This figure is one store per 6250 people. Adding one more store (if happens) in town will bring this figure to 5555 people per store. Is this number (6250) too low for good business? I've also heard that the money people spend on dry cleaning is X dollars per household, but don't remember what the X was. Do you happened to know? Any help in this area will be appreciated. (It would be nice if you could refer to an article on this subject of dry cleaning business analysis.) Rob
