It is a stiffener, NOT elastic. It has no stretch. Yes, it is Ban-Roll brand, but the packaging has changed. There is no green Ban-Roll logos on the outside, just white packaging.

Can the edge or lengthwise threads be removed to create a "frayed edge" on this Ban-Rol?

There is no easy way to do this, but it would be feasible to cut the edge off lengthwise to get a frayed edge. This would, of course, weaken the Ban-Rol.
